Thursday, 5th May 2011,

i went to be a volunteer in meal packaging event. they call it meal packaging party. =)
it's a charity work to package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals to be used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world.

It started at 2.30pm and supposed to end at 5pm. but we finished it at around 3.40pm. we do it in an assembly line way. we packed 10000 packets of meals and it only took us 1 hour plus. i feel good after the event because i know that a kid will not die of hunger because i help to feed them! =)

here are the pics :

we need to have the cap on and sanitize our hands before packaging.

this is the hall where we packed the meals. it's actually much bigger than this. i only get to capture half of the hall.

this is my station table. there are 6 tables same like this. each table will have 6 ppl working.
the white packets beside the blue box is the vitamins packed into like chilli sauce packet. in the blue box is rice. underneath the funnel is the packet where all the food will be put into.

the orangy thing is the dried vegetable like carrot and etc and beside it is soy!

The process goes like this :
1. one vitamin packet will be put into a packet.
2. the packet goes under the funnel.
3. one scoop of dried vege.
4. one cup of soy.
5. one cup of rice.

-----> it then goes to the next station. look below.

this station is where quality control will be done.
the packet must weigh in between 350 and 360g. if it's more than 360g, some rice will be scooped out and if it's less than 350g, some rice will be added into the packet.
after that, the package will be sealed with the blue thing in the pic.

------> next stage is counting the packets to be put into a box that holds 36 packets.

each rectangles in this pic will hold 2 packets. so after filling up the rectangles, total will be 36 packets. all the 36 will be packed into 1 box.

every 1000 packets packaged into boxes, they will ring the gong and we will shout and cheer.

it's a lot of fun~!

i hope to do this more!

more pics below:

me in the process.

this sticker is given to us after the party ended.

i stick it on my shirt!! weeee...~~

after that, we were given the chance to try out the food that we just packaged. it was okay.
at least kids survive by eating them.

I'm thankful to God for sending these people to help hungry kids and prevent death.
